Audi RS 3 Sportback in Kyalami green
Audi did something unexpected with the 2025 RS3. They dropped the horsepower—394 hp compared to 401 hp in the 2024 model—yet somehow, the 0–60 mph time remains locked at 3.6 seconds. If that sounds strange, don’t worry. There’s a good reason for it.
Less Power, Same Speed? Here’s Why.
The slight drop in power comes down to emissions regulations. Audi had to tweak the legendary 2.5-liter five-cylinder turbo to meet stricter standards, and that meant dialing back the peak output just a bit. But before you get disappointed, here’s the good news: horsepower isn’t everything.
What really matters for acceleration is torque, gearing, and traction—and Audi made sure those stayed on point. The 2025 RS3 still cranks out 369 lb-ft of torque, just like the 2024 model, and it delivers that punchy power across a broad rev range. Combine that with Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system, which expertly puts power to the ground, and you get the same explosive launch as before.

More Than Just Numbers
Beyond raw figures, Audi’s engineers know how to extract every ounce of performance. The launch control system is perfectly tuned, the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission snaps through gears without hesitation, and the car’s compact size makes it feel even quicker than the numbers suggest.
So, while the 2025 RS3 might have a few less ponies on paper, the driving experience hasn’t lost a step. It’s still an absolute rocket—just one that plays a little nicer with emissions standards.
