If you’ve read any of our previous articles, you’d know that Audi is committed to both luxury and safety. According to IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), Audi’s large luxury SUV segment has the safest luxury SUV’s and holds the top spot for the 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK+ award. These models consist of the Q7, Q8, Q8 e-tron, and Q8 e-tron Sportback. The Q7 recently made the list thanks to headlight adjustments that eliminated excessive glare.
In order to qualify for the TOP SAFETY PICK+ in 2023, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, original moderate overlap front, and updated side tests. Exceptional headlights must be standard across all trims, and a front crash prevention system that earns advanced or superior ratings in both the daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations must be available.
The HD Matrix-Design LED headlights with Laser Light available on the 55 TFSI Prestige trim earned the best rating for headlights. Headlight variations on all 2023 models built before February received poor ratings due to excessive glare.
