On September 26, 2023, a Redditor named Hopefully_running uploaded a video of a bicyclist flying through a crosswalk in Sacramento, CA. As the bicyclist goes through the crosswalk, the traffic light turns green, and he appears not to be paying attention to the traffic next to him.
As he speeds up through the crosswalk, it appears a B8 Audi is already moving and committed to the light. The Audi slams his brakes at the very last minute, almost clipping the bicyclist. This scenario is an excellent demonstration of why you always look each way, especially on a bicycle. Believe it or not, Bicyclist fatalities among the ages of 20 and older have quadrupled since 1975, according to IIHS.
