With electric vehicles becoming more popular, so are injuries, and not in the way you think. EV charging stations around the world have been running into an issue with people getting injured, not by electrocution, but by tripping. To help reduce this slippery situation (and legal liability), Audi has just filed a patent for a new type of EV charging station that aims to reduce tripping hazards.

Audi’s new charging station design features an extendable warning bollard to address these concerns. The bollard serves as a warning sign, alerting others to the presence of the charging cable and preventing them from tripping over it. This retractable feature also allows for a neat appearance when not in use, reducing clutter and potential hazards in the surrounding area.

Moreover, the charging cable protector is another crucial element of this new design. It covers the charging cable in a durable casing, protecting it from outdoor elements and potential damage. The protector also serves as a barrier, preventing the cable from being accidentally pulled or damaged by passing vehicles or other objects. This feature ensures the safety of the charging cable and the vehicle, minimizing the risk of accidents and costly repairs.

What do you think of this new style of charging station? Is it an intelligent design, or is it an overcomplicated cabinet? Let us know, and don’t forget to subscribe for more Audi news and content. Also, check out our forum to connect with other enthusiasts!
