Development & Launch

First introduced at the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, the Audi Q3 was developed on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform, sharing architecture with the Audi A3, Volkswagen Tiguan, and SEAT Ateca. Positioned below the larger Q5, the Q3 was designed for urban drivers who wanted a luxurious, tech-packed, and capable small SUV.

The first-generation Q3 (2011-2018) set the stage for Audi’s success in the premium compact SUV category, while the second-generation (2019-present) took the model to new heights with a complete redesign, upgraded technology, and improved performance.

The Q3 RS was introduced in 2013, featuring a 2.5L five-cylinder turbocharged engine, delivering 310 hp (later upgraded to 340 hp in 2015 and 367 hp in 2016), making it a true performance SUV with a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.4 seconds.
