Audi Reaches Halfway Point of the Dakar Rally

The Dakar Rally is known for its grueling stages, extreme terrain, and unpredictable conditions. It is considered one of the most challenging motorsports events in the world. And for Audi, this year’s rally has been no exception. However, as they reached the halfway point of the 2024 Dakar Rally, Audi emerged as a leader, with its team holding a one-two lead.

Team Audi Sport has performed remarkably so far in its third participation in the desert classic. Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz have managed to take the lead with a margin of only 20.21 minutes, securing second place. With Carlos Sainz and Lucas Cruz leading the way and Mattias Ekström and Emil Bergkvist closely following, Audi has truly showcased its dominance.

“It’s been a tough rally so far, in which we haven’t been able to catch our breath for a moment. In the dust of various competitors we got into critical situations several times in the early days,” said Sainz. “So it’s all the more pleasing that we took the lead on the 48H Chrono stage. But that doesn’t mean anything yet, because we’re only at the halfway point.”

The success of Team Audi Sport can be attributed to their innovative vehicle, the Audi RS Q e-tron. This all-electric car has stood out not only for its speed but also for its incredible efficiency and reliability. The team has covered over 2,609 miles (4,200 kilometers) so far in some of the harshest conditions, and the Audi RS Q e-tron has proven its strength and durability.

As the second week of the rally begins, Team Audi Sport is determined to maintain their lead and bring home the victory. With a one-two lead at the halfway point, the team is not only aiming for the podium but also to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation in the world of motorsports.

The Audi RS Q e-tron has already proven to be a game-changer, and this performance in the Dakar Rally will further solidify its position as a top contender in the world of electric racing vehicles. This achievement also confirms Audi’s commitment to developing state-of-the-art technology and pushing the limits of what is possible in the world of motorsports.
