2023 Audi Q4 e-tron
Volkswagen Group of America has issued a recall for select 2021-2023 ID.4, 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-Tron, and Q4 e-Tron Sportback vehicles. The recall concerns a potential issue with the instrument panel, which may fail to properly display the transmission gear lever indicator. As a result, these vehicles do not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, which regulates transmission shift lever sequences, starter interlocks, and transmission braking effects.

Number of Units Affected: 60,490
What This Means for Owners: The issue with the gear lever indicator could lead to drivers mistakenly shifting the vehicle into an incorrect gear, which may pose a safety risk. To address this, dealers will update the brake control unit software, free of charge.
What You Should Do: Affected owners will receive notification letters starting on April 25, 2025, detailing the steps to get the software updated. In the meantime, owners are encouraged to contact Volkswagen customer service at 1-800-893-5298 or Audi customer service at 1-800-253-2834 for more information.
If you own a 2021-2023 ID.4, 2022-2023 Audi Q4 e-Tron, or Q4 e-Tron Sportback, stay informed and contact your local dealer to ensure your vehicle is brought up to compliance with the necessary safety standards.
