The Home Built by Jeff YouTube channel has once again amazed car enthusiasts with their latest project, which is a Porsche 986 Boxster that has undergone an Audi 4.2 V8 engine swap. The Boxster is popular for its mid-engine layout and balanced handling, and now, it has been transformed into a high-performance machine with the addition of the powerful V8 engine. You may be wondering why they chose a V8 engine. Well, after the car’s original 2.7L engine blew up while being tracked, it made more sense to replace it with the easily available Audi V8 engine since Porsche engines are expensive.
The V8 engine, which was initially found in an Audi A6, produces 300 horsepower, compared to the Boxster’s original 217. Besides swapping the Audi V8 engine into the Boxster, Jeff also added an aftermarket hardtop to give the car a more aggressive and sleek appearance. This modification not only enhances the car’s aesthetics but also improves its aerodynamics and handling on the track. Although this track build is not yet completed, it will be fascinating to see how it performs on the track. Check out the video above to see the car in its first test drive!
