Starting January 1, 2024, the factory located in Ingolstadt will commence production with net carbon-neutral operations. This marks the third plant to operate with net zero emissions following the Belgium plant in 2018 and the Hungary plant in 2020. This plant will begin to build the new Audi Q6 e-tron series next year along with other models as well, but it doesn’t stop there. As part of the Mission:Zero environmental program, Audi aims to achieve net carbon-neutral status across all its sites by 2025.

Audi Board Member for Production and Logistics Gerd Walker emphasizes: “Protecting the environment as best as possible is firmly anchored in Audi’s corporate strategy. By transitioning the Ingolstadt site to renewable energies, we are taking a major step toward our goal of net carbon-neutral vehicle production.” Audi is dedicated to enhancing energy efficiency at its sites, leading to a substantial decrease in carbon emissions. For instance, in 2022 the energy management measures saved over 35,000 megawatt hours and prevented 5,000 tons of carbon emissions at the Ingolstadt site. As a reminder, Audi has invested heavily in research and development to create new electric models, such as the E-Tron and have even filed a patent to reduce CO2 via electric vehicle chargers. Because of the contribution of this four ring pioneer, a fully sustainable and zero-emission future is closer than we may think.
